It's Monday night, May 28, 1951, and rookie Willie Mays, 20, has just launched a first-inning pitch from Boston Braves southpaw Warren Spahn toward the left field roof at the Polo Grounds in Manhattan. It is Mays' first home at-bat for the New York Giants, his first big league hit and the first of 660 homers in his amazing Hall of Fame career.

It's December 28, 1958, at cold, blustery and overcast Yankee Stadium in New York, the Giants (in blue) vs the Baltimore Colts. Some still call this, the first sudden-death championship game in NFL history, "the greatest game ever played."

The Giants, once considered one of the most cherished of all football teams, had been on a free fall since 1964. Finally, in '86, everything would come together. Posting an amazing record of 14-2, the Giants would storm through the playoffs, en route to the team's first championship game since 1963. In the big game against Denver, Simms was masterful. With Denver leading 10-9 in the third quarter, Simms marched his team on a 63 yard scoring drive that culminated with a 13 yard touchdown pass to inspirational tight end, Mark Bavaro. After snaring the ball in the end-zone, Bavaro knelt down on a knee, as if to be giving thanks to be part of this special moment. Later in the second half the game was put away as Simms connected with Phil McConkey on a six yard scoring play. Simms completed an astounding 22 passes in 25 attempts, surging his team past Denver in the second half en route to a 39-20 rout. Item measures 13.75'' x 21''

It's long-past sundown at the New York Giants' long-gone Manhattan ballpark, and the rooftop lights are casting an eerie glow on the action below. It's a packed house for this scene based on mid-50s references, and you're seated in the upper deck, just to the right of home plate.
